SM Malls’ premier tech hub hosts gaming competition, offering opportunities for upcoming e-sports talents to showcase their skills and win prizes

[Manila, Philippines] – A surge of excitement is taking over SM North EDSA, as gamers anticipate the Cyberzone Challenger Series, happening this August 2–3.

Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned pro, the competitive event offers opportunities to test your skills and rise through the ranks of Manila’s growing local e-sports scene.

“E-sports continues to reshape how we see gaming today—what was once a way to pass time is now a thriving community,” said Patrick G. Pacla, Head of Operations and Marketing (Sponsorship and Cyberzone) at SM Supermalls. “For Cyberzone, it’s exciting to be part of such a monumental era in gaming.”

To celebrate the spirit of competition, SM North EDSA will be hosting the Cyberzone Challenger Series with co-presenters PLDT Home, DataBlitz, PC Express, and UGREEN.

The special two-day event will comprise four main competitions, featuring games handpicked for their popularity and accessibility: Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB), Tekken 8 Tournament, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Beyblade X.

Test your drive to win

For the first day, the MLBB and Tekken 8 tournaments will run concurrently, hosted by OSX. The MLBB competition will follow a single-elimination format with a total of 64 teams gunning for a share of the ₱30,000 prize pool.

On the other hand, the Tekken 8 tournament will be one-on-one, with winners keeping the same character while losers have to choose a new one for the succeeding round. Participants here can look forward to battling it out for a ₱20,000 prize pool.

For day two, tabletop games take center stagespecifically Yu-gi-oh and Beyblade X hosted by Arvhic Verdida. Yu-gi-oh duels will follow the traditional 3-on-3 format, while Beyblade will pit single competitors against one another. Both tournaments boast a prize pool of ₱20,000 each
